      Long Description: This module is a pure-Ruby implementation of an asynchronous multiplexed IO Reactor which is based on the Reactor design pattern found in Pattern-Oriented Software Architecture, Volume 2: Patterns for Concurrent and Networked Objects. It allows a single thread to demultiplex and dispatch events from one or more IO objects to the appropriate handler.

    If you haven't already installed Darwin Ports, you can find easy instructions for doing so at the main Darwin Ports page.

    Once Darwin Ports has been installed, in a terminal window and while online, type the following and hit return:


      %  cd /opt/local/bin/portslocation/dports/rb-io-reactor
      % sudo port install rb-io-reactor
      Password:
    You will then be prompted for your root password, which you should enter. You may have to wait for a few minutes while the software is retrieved from the network and installed for you. Y ou should see something that looks similar to:

      ---> Fetching rb-io-reactor
      ---> Verifying checksum for rb-io-reactor
      ---> Extracting rb-io-reactor
      ---> Configuring rb-io-reactor
      ---> Building rb-io-reactor with target all
      ---> Staging rb-io-reactor into destroot
      ---> Installing rb-io-reactor
    - Make sure that you do not close the terminal window while Darwin Ports is working. Once the software has been installed, you can find further information about using rb-io-reactor with these commands:
      %  man rb-io-reactor
      % apropos rb-io-reactor
      % which rb-io-reactor
      % locate rb-io-reactor
